Baptism
There
is
one
Body
and
one
Spirit;
There
is
one
hope
in
God's
call
to
us;
One
Lord,
one
Faith,
one
Baptism;
One
God
and
Father
of
all.
So
we
say
at
the
beginning
of
the
Baptismal
service.
In
this
service,
the
entire
congregation
is
excited
to
welcome
a
new
member;
not
simply
into
the
local
parish,
but
into
full
initiation
into
the
Christ’s
Body,
the
Church.
The
baptized
will
join
fully
the
community,
which
is
present
to
affirm,
support,
and
welcome.
Whether
the
candidates
are
adults
or
infants,
the
congregation
can’t
help
but
wear
their
enthusiasm
on
their
faces.
The
congregation
joins
into
the
celebration
of
initiation.
This
happens
in
the
context
of
a
Sunday
morning
Eucharist,
usually
on
one
of
these
four
appropriate
feast
days:
Epiphany,
Easter,
Pentecost,
and
All
Saints'
Sunday.
